The Transit of Venus - Asterix Astro Club

June 6, 2012 marked the inauguration of activities of Asterix, the astro club of St Albert's College for the academic year 2012 - 2013. The transit of Venus was caught live by Prof.Shaji Joseph  from NASA space cameras and the visual feast was savoured by the students flocking to the Physics department audio visual room.The event would repeat only in 2117 so the lucky viewers were grateful.The activities were inaugurated by Principal Prof. Harry Cleetus. Vice Principal Dr. Cyriac Mathew offered felicitations.The highlight of the day was the talk by the renowned astronomer Prof.P S Sobhan of Maharajas College. He enthralled the audience with his magic of Celestial Mechanics.The Head of Department of Physics Prof. Lawrel Gregory offered welcome speech.
